Hailstone Man 

Bill Rankin in the King of Clouds
Jumped out of a plane when it was going down
Rising and falling for nearly an hour
45,000 feet in the air

Ten miles up and falling fast
The cumulonimbus sent him up at last
Frostbite covered his body too
That minus 58 woulda turned me blue

Thunder and lightening
Weren’t too frightening
Falling and rising so fast
Freezing and burning
Tossing and turning
Wonder how long he can last?

Can you rise and fall like a hailstone man?
Goin’ up and down like a hailstone can?
Did you crack the sky like a hailstone did?
Will you learn to fly like a hailstone kid?

Nature is queen but she’s a strange one too
How can a person be a hailstone too?
The cumulonimbus is the mother of clouds
The hail and the lightening is what makes her proud

Bill didn’t hear the thunder but he felt it inside
He wished it was a nightmare and he wanted to cry
Then a bolt of lightening passed right through his chute

He was sure he was dead,
I guess he should’ve been dead
He was a Hailstone Man and so he lived instead!

Can you rise and fall like a hailstone man?
Goin’ up and down like a hailstone can?
